Hi,

My boy was off last year for 9 months due to lamness. We never really got to the bottom of the cause but it did highlight problems with imbalances in his feet and very upright pasterns. My vet believes the lamness was probably cuased by the early onset of arthritis which he treated with catrofen (sp?) injections.

Anyway although he is now sound I am wondering whether he should be on a maintenance level joint supplement. What are your thoughts on what is best and where is the cheapest place to get it from?

Thanks for all your help

My 4yo with OCD is on NAF superflex (which I think is about £20?) and pure Glucosamine & MSM by equine america, which is £16. He's so far sound as I've been bringing him back into work.

My horse had the same symtoms as you describe and also had x-rays so the arthritis was confirmed, she also has cartrophen injections every week for a month and now (on the advice of my vet) is on the supliment Cosequin, it's excellent and is the only joint suppliment that has been proven. It's a shame it has the price tag to match, the cheapest I've seen it is £100, but thats lasted me just over 6 months. The insurence is paying out for mine atm so when my year is up I dont know whether to pay for the cosequin or try something new.

I thought NAF superflex had Glucosamine and MSM in it? I would prefer something that covers everything rather than feeding a few. He already had Garlic and Biotin so too many more and they'll be more supplements than feed!

Can any of you tell me if NAF superflex would be suitable for a 2 year old with locking stifles? Or if there is something else more appropriate?
