Inky isn't old and creaky yet, but there's a small hint of stiffness that I'd like to try and get on top of now.

I'm just bamboozled by all the many supplements out there!
Pony Stats:
12yo Mare
14.1h
Irish Cob
Light Hacking about 4-5 times a week, mixture of road and offroad
Shod on fronts and backs

I've looked at the following:
Maxavita MaxaFlex 900g (Has green lipped mussel, big fan of that, worked wonders in my dog)
Equine America Glucosamine 10000 Plus MSM 900gm
NAF Five Star Superflex (Only 30 day supply, would have to be worth it)
Requisite Glucosamine Powder 900g
Requisite Glucosamine Extra 900gm
NAF Glucosamine 10 000 Plus MSM 900gm

Can I please have peoples recommendations for Joint Supplements?

I think its trail and error to see what helps your horse.

I'm currently feeding the equimins one with bromelian (sp) added, I was feeding super flex but tried this as it was a lot cheaper, and was quite happy with it.

I'd probably steer clear of the cheaper just glucosamine supplements.

I've tried them all in the 5 years since my pony was diagnosed with mild arthritic changes. Nothing made much of a difference and its cost me hundreds. He even went on bute for a bit. I now feed tumeric with oil and pepper and pony is very comfortable, more sound than he has been in years. I know it sounds weird but it really works.

I also use turmeric pepper and linseed oil or coconut oil the trick is to buy the best quality turmeric and not the stuff from supermarket as these tumerics have hardly any curcumin in them as they extract it to use as food colouring, the place I get mines from sells turmeric with difrent percetages of curcumin in it so you can chose its called valleyviewanimalfeeds.com well worth a look everything is certified

Two ways to pick/judge a joint supplement IMO: by observing your horse (trial and error), and by comparing amounts of ingredients vs. price per dose. I'm in a similar situation with my 13yo gelding. The vet recommended I try a supplement as he may just be starting to get a little stiff at times. Based on value for money and levels of ingredients (glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate, hyaloronic acid), I went with Equimins flexijoint. Hard to say how much/what effect it has since he's not showing consistent problems (yet), but I'm hoping that it's doing some good.

Thanks for replies all, I've bit the bullet and bought a pot of Equine America Glucosamine + MSM, just going to trial that and go from there to start :)

My vet is adamant that the only thing that works is Glucosamine and the ones with all the extra added stuff is a waste of money.

He showed me a couple of studies/articles to back this up however it was a couple of years ago. He recommends feeding glucosamine and boswelia. I've also read a couple of studies that suggest they make no difference whatsoever and it's al a waste of money.
