My boy will be 15 soon and with his current injury (now on the mend) I would lke to give him the best joint supplement I can afford (not much!) to keep him comfortable. He is currently on glucosamine msm powder. Does anyone recommend this one or do you know of any others that REALLY work!!
Thanks in advance

My horse is 32 and is currently on nobute and glucosomine powder

He used to be on cortaflex and was for the last 10 years til I found out its not got in it what it says it has at the right levels apparently !

He used to be on a sachet of danalon every day but I've stopped that with the nobute and believe it or not touch wood, he seems better on the nobute !

Thanks for the reply. I did see nobute in our local tack shop but as he is currently recovering from an injury I didn't want 'mask' the problem, if you get what I mean!! Sounds like your lad is doing great on it!!

same as aro 1 sachet every other day £108 for 100 sachets so just over 50p day mare nearly 6 16.3 ISH want to look after her and not wasting money on others had hock injury in ireland vet thinks never lame since been on synequin.

I feed Joint FX. Has both forms of glucosamine in, MSM, chrondroiton plus loads of other stuff including (off the top of my head) rosehips, curcumin (something to do with turmeric I think) and some other natural remedies / anti-inflamms.

Chestnut Cob - does it say on the tub what the levels of MSM, Chondroitin, Glucsoamine are in Joint FX. I'm currently feeding a supplement with those 3 and turmeric and rosehips separately so was thinking it might be an alternative.

No, I had to call them to find out. I'm afraid I can't remember what the levels are but I know my vet thinks it's the best supplement on the market. I wanted to put my horse on Cortaflex but he told me I may as well just feed him sugar for all the good it would do... He looked into it all in quite a lot of depth and said JointFX has the highest levels of everything required. I can't remember his exact wording now but I can ask him when I next see him and report back.

The only thing JFX doesn't seem to contain is Devil's Claw, IIRC.

Sometime the levels don't matter so much as long as you know what the required levels are and adjust, alot of them you really have to feed at the loading dose to get the required levels rather than the maintenance level.

Have to email them I guess.

I prefer without Devil's Claw unless I'm specifically looking for a bute substitute so that's good.

I use Liquiflex - amazing stuff. The only one ive used and actually seen & felt a difference!

You can get it from Copa ireland :) Really fab stuff!

Another one for Equine Answers ..I have tried all the other expensive ones (Cosequin,Synequin,Cortaflex HA and more over the years )with no change .
