best lagging to stop frozen pipes?

pipes on yard have been fine EXCEPT the pipe supplying one stable and the wash box, which has been frozen for nearly 2 weeks now......until last night, when it burst at some point so this morning the yard is a lake of semi frozen slush.great.

fortunately its on a seperate stop cock to the rest of the yard.

pipes are lagged with insulating foam, but are pretty exposed as run high up round the top of the wash box and with it being open fronted the wind whips in and up, right over them, they are also pretty close to the wall so minimal space behind them to wrap stuff round.

is there anything at all, slimline but good insulation i could use to lag them a bit more to try and prevent thsis happening again?

I was given what sounds like a really good tip (although I haven't tested it yet) if you have an electric socket near your tap/pipe - buy a length of soil heating cable, which is very slimline, wrap it round the tap/pipe and that should keep it ice-free.

I got mine online - can't remember the exact name of the website but something like 'garden4less' - and it cost roughly £20 for a 4 metre length. You do need to run it with a circuit breaker.

Ok will let you in on one of my secrets.

Trace Heating is the only way to stop pipes freezing, ive had it on my yard pipes for 10 years now & have never had a frozen water pipe since.
It's a very simple system google it for more info there's loads of people who do it now.
