On the back of reading some comments on another thread I thought it would be a good idea to have a place to collate the good experiences of livery yards! Give a review for the best yards you have been on!

I will go first - Lower Matley Moor Farm Glossop. Absolutely lovely family run the place, horses in a great routine, mixed herd huge turnout every day come rain or shine! They literally went above and beyond for me when my boy was injured. By far the best yard I’ve been on over the years, was gutted when I had to leave for personal reasons.

Crow Wood Equestrian - Burnley. My horse went here for rehab livery and they were excellent. Nothing was too much for them and all the staff where so welcoming! I got regular text updates from the grooms and they looked after him so well. Excellent facilities too for the competition horse.

Your turn!

Cane End Stud. Super YM, flexible care, nice liveries. The only full livery I’ve been on where I wasn’t constantly irritated by small stuff, they did my horse better than I would have ? The only thing I miss having moved out of the area.

Easterton stables - Glasgow. You have to like busy yards, but if you don't mind that, they're great. Super flexible. They treat my old girl like a queen, so she feels like she has a cadre of slaves. This makes her happy and stops her from boxwalking/fencewalking. Great facilities, great hacking. Actually, it's terrible and you don't want to come here because I need the space for my future baby horse. ;)

I was googling Lower Matley Moor as visitng there for a fun ride at weekend and trying to map my route when I came across this thread.

Such a shame in the whole of the UK wecan only list a handful of good yards when the threads relating to poor experiences are always bursting at the seams.

I wouldn't mind recommending places where everything was fine but I just didn't like the people or the hacking was poor or similar....but in all places I've been disgusted with there have been serious welfare or health issues ,.such as horses not fed, not cleaned, no fresh water. Pretty bad stuff IMHO.

Haha name and shame!! People need to know!

Best is tricky as it depends what you want. My two retired boys are at Bury Farm Stables Caddington, its exactly what I want for them. The yard is owned and run by a family and they are lovely competant people who I know I can trust. A stable herd of4 geldings with fabulous field shelter and well drained ground. And its only 10 mins away from me. A picture of them snoozing (actually only one of these is mine, the flat out one).

I couldn't ask for more - and a stable is always available in case of emergencies (OK is pus in the foot an emergency?) - somehow they juggle things to make things work for the horses in their care. Are my boys delighted to see me? What do you think - I don't do treats in the field

That's always a good sign! Mine are always out 24/7 in the summer but this will be their first winter living out (with a 24x12 shelter which has a partition so can be made in to 2 stables if needed) but I am a little apprehensive as they won't have bedding in like yours does.
