Best method for cleaning scurfy, white greasy muck from riding boots

As above really. Some greasy scurf has got onto my boots (both leather and suede) what's the best method to remove it? Especially from the suede?

Brush with very foamy water, so you are using the foam rather than gettingthem wet, if that makes sense. Brush them again when dry.

Spoon/ blunt knife and scrape it off

Clean horse but that may be more difficult , I use a tack sponge with a scourer to scrub and then clean and sometime fairy liquid before leather balm.

A ball of mane or tail hair is good x
