We have a fairly modest well rotted muck heap that we would like to spread over the paddocks this autumn once the horses come off them. We have a tractor but not a muck spreader. We don’t want to have to invest in a large expensive bit of kit for a job that gets done once a year and don’t know if you can hire the sort of muck spreaders that farmers use, or if there is another way of doing it which is a bit easier than a trailer and shovel! I’m sure this must be a common issue, so all advice gratefully received. Thank you.

I have a trailer and a shovel, I can't find any farmers who can free up the time to bother to muck spreading on my 7 acres. There are small muck spreaders but they are thousands and have poor reviews. Don't try dumping random piles and harrowing - it doesn't work, particularly on a slope!

We’ve invested in a mill creek muckspreader now. It does a great job.

However, we have previously filled a small trailer and manually flung it out and then harrowed.

Prior to the trailer we did wheelbarrows. Dumped in small piles and then flung it about with a shavings fork.

There isn’t an easy way unfortunately ?
