Where do people think the best place is to advertise a horse for sale? I've got one that I desperately need to sell, but for a reasonable price, he's worth more than the £100 preloved/dragon driving jobs.

Has so far been advertised locally, and lightly on FB, had a few viewings, none have been interested, and not really given me any "solid" reasons as to why (i.e. Too expensive, wrong colour, to sharp etc)

When I was looking, I have to say Preloved was probably the main place I frequented, despite perceptions, as it seemed to have the greatest volume of horses on it. In the end, that's where I found my mare, and she was certainly priced above £100 :D

Depending on the horse there are 3 sites I use, Horsequest for most types, even fairly ordinary horses as there is so much activity yes it costs but if it means you sell to a good home it is worth it, the main PC site for anything that is family friendly and has done some competing or a more local to us and normally the first place I try, NFED is cheap seems to have a good range of horses and I have sold a few from there very quickly, when I have tried the free sites I have had little response and normally it is from totally unsuitable people asking to loan or buy for peanuts.

When I was looking I looked on Preloved, horsemart, horsequest and horse and hound. My horse was advertised on horse and hound

HorseQuest to sell
I look on Horsemart, Horsedeals, Preloved

We should of course recommend Horse and Hound to sell (!) although I find their search facility somewhat cumbersome and inaccurate

I think Facebook is great but search for groups and post to them all. I found Horsequest the dearer end and tiresome when looking as theres no indication of how old an ad is or what area on some and I got fed up of trawling through the drop down menus for what I'd consider a certain type, to find a horse I may like under something else. Horsemart was better as you could at least narrow down search areas. Found my new horse on Facebook.

what is nfed?

I've been using NFED ("Equestrian Information for the Central Southern Area, Horses, Ponies & Equestrian Equipment for Sale") http://www.nfed.co.uk/ for a few weeks trying to find a loan horse, but it has an extensive site for sales also. Also using Preloved, although their search facility irritates me as it will do an "any word" search rather than "all words", meaning I end up trawling through a lot of share and part loan ads when all I want is full loan. But certainly seems to be used a lot, for sales and shares.
