Best. Natured. Youngster. Ever. Rant.

Firstly, I hope your poor boy is better quickly, he sounds like an absolute gem. Secondly, big hugs to you for being in such a horrible situation. And thirdly, it sounds like you will be much better off out of a yard where people are so miserable they won't help you in an emergency, won't even attempt to provide rehab care and don't muck out when you are paying them the earth! Good luck with the move, the new place sounds so much better.

Livery yards are officially turning into my pet hate, ffs people are paying for there hobby and it isnt exactly rock science to provide good care and be supportive. Wish I could have a livery yard!! Hope your lovely horse recovers quickly

This really upsets me when I read things like this. When I work with horses I do it because I love it (the pay is never good) The horse comes first, I don't stop for a break until every horse is fed, watered and mucked out. And then I read posts like this where it sounds like the grooms can't be ****ed to even bother. It's so sad, even if there is an issue with the owner it's not the horses fault, the horse shouldn't suffer, and the owner is the one paying the wages. What are these grooms taught these days? There's no care, no respect. Sorry for your situation, the YM sounds reasonable and I expect she'll be pretty annoyed to find out she's lost a livery while she's been away. Hope you can sort out the money and get your horse out of there and on the road to recovery. I would wait til you've gone then send a polite letter of complaint, it's useful for them if they want to keep clients happy.

Sorry to hear about your horse - really hope it's not too serious and you can move him asap. I think it's best to wait until YM/YO gets back on Tuesday to discuss (and worry) about finances.

Seems the mice are playing while the cat's away which is just appalling if animals are not getting proper care.

Good luck at new place - sounds ideal.

Just caught with your post. Sending positive vibes that things will improve. Am astounded at behaviour of yard staff, a good manager will want to know how they have behaved in her absence. How awful that her staff are so lacking in care and respect for you and your horse, it is about time some staff remembered that without 'customers' there is no job.

Hope you get OK to move and your youngster recovers quickly.

If you are moving before your YO gets back then I would leave her a (sealed) letter politely explaining the situation and saying you will call on Tuesday to discuss. Just in case she gets back and jumps to conclusions.

I will do this :) I intend to be there first thing on Tuesday anyhow. Move has been brought forward to tomorrow afternoon as transport has a free slot then. Off to set up his new stable first thing in the morning!
