best navy velvet hat

Thinking about saving for a navy velvet hat to wear with my tweed jacket and I want one with a flesh-coloured leather harness. Was considering the Caldene Prestige and tried one in rideaway today but it just doesn't fit my head shape, the Charles Owen hats don't fit me either. Can anyone recommend one that doesn't cost the earth, please?
 
I have Charles Owen one. I can't remember which one to be exact but I think it cost just under £100. I've had it for about 5 years now but be warned that the leather strap starts to discolour from sweat etc etc but overall I love it !!
 
Thanks, but Charles Owen Hats just don't fit my head shape, tried several Charles Owens at rideaway yesterday but they don't fit at all. Any recommendations for other makes, anyone?
 
Gatehouse make them (I think it's the 'Hickstead' model), but I don't know what shape head they suit. There's also the Champion 'Classic'.
 
The Gatehouse Hickstead is a lovely velvet hat and unlike others it doesn't look massive and turn you into a lollipop when on. Caldene also do a lovely one called Prestige and Charles Owen also have the H2000. I had the latter and although a lovely hat it was massive.
 
I have a gatehouse hickstead which is lovely, the husband has a just togs showjumper which is nice and a brilliant price! Sadly it isn't comfy for me. Neither of us have Charles Owen shaped heads.

The harness is nicer on the gatehouse than the JT (after several years of pretty heavy use the harness on the JT is peeling and looking a bit shabby on close inspection) byt the JT is a sleeker shape and the velvet is more hardwearing. The JT is about half the price of the Gatehouse.

DH wears his for all riding in all weather and totally abuses it but it still comes up nicely for competitions. It is his second one and the last one was worn well too and replaced due to age.

I only wear my gatehouse for dressage and showing. I have a vented hat for everyday and a skull for hunting and jumping.

Thanks everyone, looks like it is going to be either the Gatehouse or the Champion, I know the Champion hats fit me well, I didn't see the Gatehouse at rideaway but I've just seen it in the catalogue. I think I maybe didn't pay much attention to it in the catalogue before I went as it looks to have a white harness in the picture.

I have a champion Grand Prix that fits great and has a flesh coloured strap which is reasonably priced! hope you find what you're looking for. :)
 
I just bought the Caldene one on eBay for just under £40! (Don't worry it is legit!)

I love it, looks so smart and fits so well!
