Hi. I have a cob with no withers at all, saddle keeps slipping to the right when I ride. Had saddler out and back person, also had physio myself to make sure we are all straight! Please could you recommend a numah or gel pad that would help.
I have seen the Acavallo just-gel pads and wondered whether these help?

I use a polypad and it stays in place brilliant - heard the limpets are very good tho. You have to buy them direct from their website I think. sm x

A cheap alternative is to get some of the rubber grippy stuff that they sell in diy shops to go in the bottom of drawers and on shelves, cut to size, pop it under your numnah and no more slipping! I think it is the stuff that they use on the thorowgood cob saddlecloths.

For my native with no withers I found that sheepskin/fleece were the worst and polypads not much better, we are fine with a prolite numnah though.

Barnsby Grip Pad.

I have about 20 numnahs, including lambskin, polypads, gel pads, prolite, you name it and this one is a million times better than the nearest competitor.

I second the NEW non slip pad. Also use Stephens gel pad with no slipping. My saddle tends to slide forwards and I can just picture my mare's face if I put a crupper on!!! I found combination of non slip pad and Stubben string girth works best.

Acavello are brilliant, just superb. Be aware that there are three kinds: anatomical, western, and (er) ordinary.

I'm using one at the mo and its a totally new experience in riding. I think the endurance people use them as well.

Which acavallo one have you got? Does it cover the whole saddle area and do you use a numnah with it? I liked the look of the acvallo just-gel pad.

Gel eze non slip pad. This can be cut to saddle shape so you can't see it under the line of the saddle if you show, but I use it as is. I find it works better than the prolite on my peculiarly asymmetric horse. It can be used directly between horse and saddle, and when it's stickiness goes, just dunk it in a bucket of water and hey presto, it's sticky again! Cost about £20.

Barnsby grip pad, or the grippy lining material that you car get for lining the boot of the car, picked some up last week for £1

Tell me more about this grippy boot liner.....? Where can I get it what is it's proper name?

No wither Newfie had saddle fitted and does an okay job but he is just round and when he spooks......and I hate over tightening the girth :(

Once heard an eventer interviewed and she swore by a certain gel pad and just can't recall which one :(

Yes, but the pads still exist? They keep old threads so we can refer back to them?? I would like to try the advice offered here but I cant find the New non slip pad suppliers/manufacturers and can only buy them second hand on Ebay...
