Bit early but its so miserable at the moment so thought we could look back to a fabulous year of competition.

Who would be yours and why?

Mine would be:
Eventer of the year?
Rider Andrew Nicholson - has had a fabulous year and done it with style!
Horsetough but has to be Sam - how many horses have been world/Olympic and European Champs all at once?

Showjumper of the Year?
Rider Scott Brash not a big winner but he has had a very consistent year on a fairly new ride, kept cool under pressure and made me laugh with his Olympic interview
Horse Big Star - nothing else to add

Dressager (not a word but still...!) of the year?
Rider Charlotte Du Jardin - bit boring but fair
Horse Valegro

Amateur of the Year? Peter Barry who is a true amateur and competed on Canadian Eventing team on the back of a good Rolex result.

Competition of the Year? Olympics

Equestrian Centre of the Year? West Wilts - new outdoor is great, friendly and organised

Brand of the year? Charles Owen - Charlotte Du Jardin did more for them in one day than I have see all year!

Bad boy/girl/horse of the year? Mark Phillips - lots of press and for the wrong reasons

Where did they come from? The person who burst onto the scene in 2012. GB Showjumping - its been a long time coming! I am sure there are others

Best marketing? Maxavita seem to be everywhere at the moment

Unsung hero? Bit of a cliche but the Gamesmakers and volunteers

Have to agree with you on lots!

Eventing
Rider: Andrew N although perhaps a little OTT in his Olympic reaction but totally understood his argument.
Horse: Sam just class

SJ
Rider. Nick keeps bouncing back and keeps producing exceptional horses.
Horse big star. Nothing else comes close

Dressage
Rider/ horse Charlotte & Valegro can't be anyone else!

Amateur: Victoria Madsen for her determination and sheer bloody minded ness

Competition: Olympics

EC: changing this to event organiser and to Dauntsey who went above and beyond most to ensure their first fixture ran!

Where did they come from? Fairfax, Previously never heard of them now a convert!

Best marketing? Fairfax again what better marketing than team manager to say a product was very possibly the difference between gold and not gold!!

Unsung hero? All the volunteers!

Horse AN's string. Can't choose between them.

Rider Carl Hester (because he trained Charlotte)

Amateur of the Year? Sarah Arrowsmith (friend who has done amazingly eventing in her first year!)

Competition of the Year? Olympics

Equestrian Centre of the Year? Oldencraig (cos it's the nearest one to me and the best I know)

Brand of the year? Premier Equine (just gets bigger & better)

Bad boy/girl/horse of the year? Clayton Fredericks

Where did they come from? The person who burst onto the scene in 2012.

All event landowners who let us chew up their land

Rider Mary King, she's a stalwart and what a performance at the Olympics, she never let's us down when it really matters!
Horse Lenamore, because he's amazing to be still going so strong at 4* at his age, I love him!

Rider Carl Hester, it's always Carl for me and he did train Charlotte

Competition of the Year? Olympics

Equestrian Centre of the Year? Eland Lodge, always extremely well run and everybody is so helpful and friendly.

Brand of the year? Amigo, had a set of fantastic new rugs this year from them and they are great.

Bad boy/girl/horse of the year? Frankie Dettori, what a shocker!

Where did they come from? The person who burst onto the scene in 2012. Charlotte Du Jardin, ok, I know she has been around long before this year but this has been her year and she is now everywhere!

Best marketing? Olympics!

Unsung hero? The volunteers at all the comps I've been to throughout the year, they are there rain or shine with a smile on their face and without them it wouldn't happen.
