I have found that Monty's saddle does'nt fit, he is lacking muscle on his withers on the right side due to him being a giraffe and his previous owner being told to hold him really tightly on one rein whilst giving the other away

So I'm having huge probs finding a saddle that fits soooo bearing in mind he is going to change shape do I go down the synthetic saddle route?
Or continue the search for a leather saddle that fits?
Oh what to do

I would go for synthetic. I really didn't want one myself as I am leather devotee but got a really nice brand new one for £275 fitted and it has been a lifesaver!

i had that prob with my TB mare i went for thorowgood T4 high wither with fish. they retail about £270 and are marvelous but what ever you do dont get a maxam one -they are rubbish!!

If the tree is the right size then get your saddler to build up the one side or put a riser on the side that has the muscle wastage but still allowing full rotation of the shoulder so his muscle can build back up again.

Nuumed do a numnah with pads you can stick on for extra support/padding in certain areas, so you could put one on the wasted side and leave the good side without. Not sure how good they are as never used one but might be worth a try.
