Any opinions? Horse has a big trot and will overreach, needs something decent. Has destroyed Premier Equine ones, so would rather something else.

Oh, and what to do about being out 24/7 and being a chronic shoe remover? He can't wear them all the time - can he?????

Overreach boots when riding - Westropp petal boots are by far my favourites. Out in field 24/7 the straps and petals are likely to break though so pull-on rubber would stay put the most, to help keep shoes on. Although they are a cow to get on and off. Mine wears velcro rubber ones and i just rebuy whenever he comes in with one on! I have loads of odd pairs and they're only a fiver...much cheaper than new shoes!

I turned my last horse out 24/7 with o/r boots on after going through the whole lost shoe/lame horse saga. I bought the pull on ones (was going through too many velcro ones) and bought them a size too big so they could move freely around the pastern - never a rub

I also have the profesional choice bell boots, they are very good - seem very tough!

I use the Westropp Mark 2 ones with the petals. Have never lost a petal yet...

One of my friends leaves them on in the field 24/7 too

Both of mine have to have decent over reach boots as one of them is shod very long and wide and the other one has a huge stride, I have a pair of HKM ones from Inch's for my boy that is a large size, they are lovely deep boots, with fluffy sheepskin and were only about £16.00 - they're not on their website, they have them in their shop ,you just have to ask for them.

My other huge boy is so big I can't get many boots that will fit him!- apart from the Woof Club over reach boots, they cover his feet really well and I'm pleased with how they've worn.

The velcro rubber ones can be worn 24/7, my TB is VERY sensitive, and has been OK.

For riding I would love some recommendations also - in my experience the woof wear kevlar ones are c**p as they just spin round so the fastening is at the back and rubs underneath of fetlock. Thats £25 wasted, as they're too small for my other horse.

Blitz goes through over reach boots at a rate of knots! He has a tendancy to undress himself though which is really helpful.

We use Legacy for turn out and ridden work. Cheap but tough but one of OH's clients uses kevlar Woof ones on her horse and he is an absolute sod for pulling off shoes and most of his foot! These stay on all the time, on all four feet they are soft and haven't rubbed him.

Thanks! I guess rubber velcro ones are best for turnout 24/7 as they don't absorb water. And for riding - anyone use the Mark Todd ones? They look quite good. Hate the petals ones, sorry, just can't abide the flapping noise they make.

I use the Trizone ones for ridden work now, as they have a tough bit at the back to protect from blows. They are fantastic. The Legacy ones are good for turnout, but found they span round when ridden in.

For turnout - just bog standard rubber jobs, I have one of my horses in them 24/7

Ridden work I am no help, none of my horses have never needed them as standard, I use the PE ballistic ones for XC and they have always done me just fine

We bought a pair and they are good but Legacy are almost the same in design and fit and considerably cheaper.

Avoid Shires Rubber over reach boots as the Velcro comes unglued immediately, I have been buying some which are about £7 and have lasted really well. I can't remember the make will look tonight and PM you.

The rubber ones are no good for 24/7 (mine lasted 3 months)
Im on the legacy ones now....lets see how they get on!!
