Best Pelham for the show ring?

I have a wee coloured who has done a few CHAPS classes and received really lovely feedback from judges who have encouraged us to continue and do some more.

A judge did say it would be more correct for him to go in a Pelham, and was the only reason he was 2nd not 1st. My dude is very amenable and I don’t think he’d be that bothered by a Pelham but I’m wondering whether to go for a rugby Pelham or a standard one. He currently goes in a very simple loose ring, single jointed snaffle.

Any advice appreciated!

Note: please don’t say “just leave him in the snaffle”. He’s been 2nd twice now due to the bit and I’m annoyed that it’s snatching the win from him!

I'm an independent bit fitter and would obviously suggest you find someone similar, close to you, to advise - however from what you have said in your post I would suggest..... If your horse is happy in his current mouthpiece try to find a pelham with a similar one.
