I am thinking of putting one of my horses out on loan as I have too many at the moment. He is a really nice quality event type and I wan't to find the best person possible for him.
Any ideas?
If he has any competition record then you could try Pony club DC or local trainers they often know o people looking for things. If he is just nice then try in local tack shops or feed stores.
think the amount of responses you get will depend a lot on whether you are prepared to only loan to stay with you at your place or are prepared to let your horse go away from you to another yard/area. You'll get more replies normally if you are prepared to let horse move.
Don't forget to use the template loan form from the BHS website to get a 'contract' between you and the loaner.
H&H do a loan colum but I advertised there and got not one response - mainly I think because I wasn't prepared to let my horse go out of the area.
When we were looking to loan we looked on horsemart and horsequest mainly. We never found anything as people were'nt prepared to let their horses move yards or wanted a share.
so as long as you're prepared to allow horse to move and aren't asking ridiculous things such as "must be prepared to do parelli" etc etc, I think you'll stand a good chance.
