Can anyone advise?

I am trying to help a friend, I have had their mare on loan for a few months as a companion/hack, they now want to sell her, I'm not in a position to buy her plus shes not the type of horse I want long term, and I now have a youngster to bring on!! but I have agreed to help with advertising etc as they have an awful lot of stress in their lives right now, and its one less thing for them to do (of course they will want to meet buyers and vet potential homes etc, I am just doing my best to help get things moving in the mean time)

trouble is - Ive never sold a horse before!!! all of mine are forever horses - so how do I best 'sell' this mare, and any particular sites and places that you can recommend?

She is a heavy weight shire x 16.2 - shes a lovely hack, steady but not a kick along, good in traffic, manners aren't perfect but shes by not means nasty or dangerous. 12yrs old.

Thanks in advance x

hes loooooovely!! :)

Am really, really enjoying him, such a nice boy, whilst I was tempted to keep the big mare, he has confirmed to me that I made the right choice - I do want to get out competing and shes just not the type I want.

I really feel like I owe it to this mare to help her find a good home, shes not done a thing wrong and shes looked after my old retired cob all winter.

I though of her for you MW, but she really is a full up shire and I dont think she would be versatile enough in the show ring for you, plus thier circumstances have changed and they now want to sell rather than loan.

I was just wondering if thier are more 'specalist' sites for horses like her? have been trying to get on to dragon driving as they seem to always have lots of heavys but for some reason page keeps crashing on me? any other sites like that?

where do all you heavy fans look when you want to add another to the herd?

awww really glad your getting on well.

I have had a change of heart really too...I just want a horse that will re build my confidence again after a nasty hacking accident I had I need it badly...so I actually don't care what horse it is so long as it's safe and sensible....sure one will turn up someday soon...

gypsy cobs.co.uk I have only just googled this have no idea if its a good site or not.

horsewizard.co.uk
apart from the usual I have no idea really....ad trader, freeads preloved...

Hope she finds a really good home though bless sounds lovely.

well you have my number GFP if you want to know anymore :)

So have posted a few ads online, (thank you for the suggestions) and will make a trip to the local tack shop at the weekend.
