As per title really. We have a lady on our yard who is looking for a sharer for her horse. Although he’s not a novice ride (he has lots of buttons) he’s generally a safe and decent type.

Preloved seems to generate a lot of inexperienced teenagers and advertising on Facebook doent seem to get any interest.

Are we trying the wrong places to advertise or do people just not want to share any more?

There are definitely people who still want to share - me being one of them!

I tend to look on the following, so these might be a starting place to advertise:
  • Horsemart
  • Horsequest
  • FridayAd
  • Horses4homes
  • On here - h&h
  • Righthorserighthome
  • Local tack/feed shops
  • Any local horsey magazines
  • Word of mouth!
What type of horse/height etc? And what area are you in?

Thanks - that’s a really helpful list. Lovely 15.2 gelding who is looking for someone to hack and school (he is well established in the school including piaffe and passage) We are in the South West.

It's a shame you are so far away from me as he sounds lovely! The only thing I would say is there's a bit of a balancing act between charging a monthly amount (which of course is justified!) and finding someone who knows what they are doing! A payer doesn't always mean competence but then a non-payer must also show commitment.

I suppose what I mean is, judge each potential sharer as they come! Best of luck!

If hes that well schooled can you put an ad up on the BD website/FB page if they have the functionality? Sounds like a more targeted approach at the right sort of rider might be needed.
FWIW, I share a lovely schoolmaster, not quite so well schooled but has all the moves to AM as well as safe to hack and jump. I found him through our mutual instructor - I was having lessons on my own pony with her, she also taught his owner, when mine was off games and it coincided with his owner looking for a sharer she put the 2 of us in touch. I've been sharing him now for almost 3 and a half years, so there are sensible people out there looking for nice horses :)
