My beagle has got a lipoma on his tail that has become infected and burst. Took him to the vets this morning where he had the fur clipped, area washed and all the matter squeezed out.
He's on a 7 day course of ABs, and have been advised to dress it with manuka honey. I know this has amazing results in the human medicine world and I use it there regularly.

Where is the best place to obtain it? Also will he try and eat it? Been told to leave the area open if possible but if he won't leave it alone then I will need to dress it.

Thanks :)

We tend to buy from Holland and Barratt - fairly reasonably priced for a 15+ pot of Manuka honey.
You need to get the highest rating for the best effects apparently :-/ how true that is I don't know, but it seemed to work well on our spaniel when she had a HUGE abcess burst on her side ........ Although I am still not sure what was worst, trying to clean the wound of pus, or cleaning up the honey !!!

Look for an article in a recent h&h on the use of honey on wounds. Went along the lines of manuka 20+ or heather honey have the best healing effects but it also said that honey off the supermarket shelf hasn't been sterilised and most contained pathogens that can actually cause infections so perhaps get a medicinal one designed for the job
