I am on ironstone soil and currently have EMS pony on SS LiverAid and I’ve just started B on it as well but I would like to feed them both pure milk thistle and am looking for recommendations on where to buy it.

Does anyone else feed it in either seed or powder form, which is best and where do you buy it from?

I used to buy it on eBay. The whole seeds are cheaper but I ground them to a powder myself using the coffee grinder attachment on my blender.

I now buy the concentrated stuff from equicure, I have a fussy horse and it's easier as you only feed a tiny amount. Buy in the tub the first time to get the container and the tiny scoop, then save by buying refills after that.

All I know is that I've got a friend with a lovely crop of milk thistle growing around her muck heap, where the whole seeds obviously just passed straight through her pony ?‍♀️ So whichever brand, I'd feed as a powder!

? thanks for that. I will get the powder form although growing my own might be an option.

Thanks Criso, the Equicure milk thistle is just what I’m looking for.
MM I like the look of some of the other herbs for both ponies. DP for his EMS and B who is currently on box rest with concussion laminitis.

Both sites are very reasonably priced and as much as I rate Science Supplements its very expensive having both of them on the LiverAid.

11 years of caring for Dexter post hepatitis which left him with severe liver damage - I’ve tried pretty much every milk thistle supplement I can find - Dex has annual blood tests plus ultra sound of his liver and the last 3 years on D&H milk thistle has shown a marked improvement in the rest - its very palatable as it’s dried out , crushed whole plant (works out cheap in the feed sack size 5 kg)

ETA you will probably find my posts on here from 2010 ish if you look
