Well I am basically going to be looking for a horse next month or just after christmas. And wondered where all you guys reccommended searching for horses over 17hh. I cannot ride anything smaller I am really tall and look ridiculous on anything small.
I would like something chunky not a tb type. I have looked on the usual horsequest/horsemart and horsedeals and not really found anything that appeals to me. Please help, or am I looking in the wrong places for the bigger type of horses.

Well I could get away with a 16.2/3hh at a push
Its so hard to find something as I am so tall. I have seen loads that I would have but only 15-16 hh lol

My YO sells pure bred Irish Draughts and they are humungous this year. All well handled, well broken & riding well. Sadly, I'm in NI. There are 2 on Horsequest - under showing. Rockrimmon Glenside Monarch & Rockrimmon Buddy (he's a warmblood). Glenside Monarch (Murphy) is stunning but the best natured horse ever. Hope you find something as nice

Oh thanks will have a look at them, To be honest I would travel for the right horse.
I am actually after an Irish Draught well it is a preference if I end up getting one is another matter.

I went to Ireland and came home with a lovely 18hh ID I could not find what I wanted here in UK. Cost me the flight and car hire plus cost of the horse & vetting and then £250 to ship him here to Lincolnshire. He came from http://www.irish-sporthorse-sales.net (Flowerhill equestrian) Oliver was very helpful and arranged everything for me inc local B&B. It was like going to a candy store so many to pick from. Great X course watch out for the lake it is DEEP!

Try Doug Aldred he is Preston way and is imports ID and ISH i got my 18hh ISH from him and he has a really good reputation.

If your patient and fancy a youngster thats going to grow huge then PM silversons who posts on here, generally in breeding. She breeds Spanish Normans (Andalusian x Percheron), an alternative to the ID. My boy was 16.2 on his 2nd birthday and will no doubt reach 17.2. He's built like a brick s**t house but is very light on his feet, has the temperament of an angel and moves like a dream, but then I am biased.

Ok guys thanks for thos will have to have a look. Cecildog could you pm me a picture of you lad, never come across that breed before.
Will pm you bunti.
