Could really do with a few more poles at the yard - any ideas where to source some cheaply? Timber yards? Builders merchants?

Thank you muchly

We got ours at a local timber yard. They are 12ft fencing poles and I think cost about £12 each, although it was over a year ago and I don't remember for sure. Cheaper by far than plastic poles

Timber yards. to save on money long fence stakes make good trotting poles and poles for skinny fences (I saw off the point but most timber yards will do that for you if they don't have blunt ended poles) fence posts are miles cheaper round here than the blunt ended poles

Maybe mine weren't for fencing? They were blunt and just exactly the same as my plastic poles?
(Maybe I was just lucky!)

no you can get those too but posts with points intended to be uprights for some reason (at least around here) are much cheaper and with the point cut off are perfect for ground poles/ trotting poles/skinnies which frees up existing longer poles for other things, I think my pointed posts were under £5 each

Foxes timber yard at Brinscal is not far from you they do plain poles, Little Oak Show jumps at Walton le Dale do coloured poles they have a seconds section ( poles not quite the right weight or damaged paint etc).

Forestry Commission? Your local rural estate with a forestry enterprise? Thinnings (larch) are worth nothing and sometimes they will let you get your own. Perhaps have a word with timber/felling contractors? Or try http://arbtalk.co.uk I would not want to pay more than a couple of quid each for larch thinnings in the rough.
