Hi

Can anyone recommend good places to shop for either potential junior event horses or showjumpers with potential to do 120/130cm, horses must have had a little competition experience preferably although not fussed if its just a little showjumping would be for a teenager so no where with super green horses (Must be 5-8yrs old).

Looking at Vere & Clea Phillips, Billy stud etc but not sure what kind of prices you'd be looking at? Wouldn't have to be a 4* Olympic horse but as stated above wouldn't be looking at the super green 4yr olds.

Also opinions and recommendations on going over to Germany/Holland or Ireland? Have a fairly good budget but not huge, would definitely use an agent if I went overseas.

Thank you! :)

Facebook have a good page called Dodgy Dealers. it is a closed group but just apply to join, put whatever name of dealer you wish to enquire about and you will get feedback, good or bad.

I looked at Verdini a few years back, nice quality horses, too good for my limited ability and not many Irish. I am not a fan of WB's. A friend used to work for them and reckoned they were straight. I am with you on being cynical of any dealer, flipping minefield.

I recommend Ardeo Sports Horses - Wicklow, Dublin & Balladeer Sports Horses, Bandon Cork.

Both have websites and good reputations. I have personal experience of both if you want to PM me for more info.

Try Castell Sport horses, they have a great selection, but will be 5 years old and younger. Brilliant honest people

I know two mares from the Billy Stud and they are super, really, really nice horses. Both jump 1.30 - 1.40m with ease and have beautiful temperaments. They were a pleasure to have on the yard (I worked with them for 18 months) and were lovely to hack/ clip/ box/ catch/ shoe etc as well as being super jumping/ schooling. If I were ever in the position I would definitely consider one from there.

Andrea Verdina - I used to share a yard with him.

Very nice horses, and as an ex eventer turned show jumper, he has personal experience of both disciplines.

Was that at Ross on Wye ?, I sent him a horse to school for when he was there, quite a long time ago and I can remember getting down the lane and wondering if my box would get stuck !

That may have been when he was at Fairfields Stables, just outside Newent, nr Hartpury? The lane off the main road does seem to get scarily narrow!

I first met him when he was at Cabalva Stables, out at Hay on Wye, when he was eventing - and that is a very alarmingly long time ago! He's down at Boomerang now, I think

Blue Moon eventing - I can personally recommend.

Liz produces young horses and doesn't even advertise them for sale until they have some experience and competitions under their belt.

She used to be based in Devon but has now moved to Ireland. You can find on FB

Try Andrew Williams / Vicky Tuffs AT GHF Equestrian. Produce and sell to top and Olympic level riders but also have some less expensive but equally nice youngsters at various levels of production. They have a website and FaceBook page.

Is Avonmill still up and running? I haven't seen anything from her recently but she always seemed to have some nice horses on the yard.

Jump elite, I have lots of friends that work for them & like it there, so I presume they are straight, i can't see those people working there if theyre not

Try HD Equine
They are agents with links all over it's my friend & her partner who run in & Johnny is fantastic at finding what you want. Sadly he can't find me the money to pay for it as well ?
