Best place to look for ex racers for sale?

Evening all!

I was just wondering if there are any dedicated sites for selling ex race horses?
Thanks in advance.
 
where abouts are you looking as your limits to travel for it?
the best people to go for with ex-racers are rescue places as although they are not sales as you probably know you can do your own thing to a point with them, and as ex-racers do have a habit of hiding their problems untill you get to know them, if after a while they are getting to difficult as cold-hearted as it may seem you can send them back :D nicest option i think giving a horse without its own home a new one is best, other than that search around for racing yards or trainers they generally have sales with ex-racers:o
 
I looked in the catalogue for Ascot sales and then contacted trainers directly about horses I liked the sound of. Bit cheeky I suppose, but the ones who got back to me were more than happy for me to go and look at the horses. In the end I bought one directly from the trainer eventhough he was listed for the sales.

Darley rehoming are very good. They match you with a horse and you get to have it on loan for 3 months. If you like it and want to keep it, you pay them a minimal fee and it's all yours. Other rescue places do a similar thing, bt seem to be more expensive and the horse never belongs to you.

phone around your local trainers and tell them what you are looking for. they probably will have one that is bound for the sales. ascot sales are very cheap but you will see some sorry throwouts.
 
Ask around trainers, I had a great response from them when I did that. Luca Cumani was very helpful indeed, he emailed back the next day saying that he himself didn't have anything that needed a new job but he would keep an ear out around Newmarket. Since then he has sent me 3 emails about other horses in other yards that are being kicked out.

Trainers are also very welcoming should you wish to go and view and maybe try a horse.
