Hi, i really want to find out some more information about my horse that i bought in July

Hes a 5 YO, around 16.0hh chestnut Thoroughbred who i bought as CALICO

Id like to know his breeding or even where he came from, he was apparently passed around from dealer to dealer for a while, Im from the North West area (not to say that my horse is though), and was wondering if people could give me a few places to search or place adverts, or someone that even may know him on here.

advise would be much appreciated.

few pics..

hehe yeah its a great place is summer thought its freezing in winter!!!
and the great part for me is i get to walk to the yard in the pitch black...very handy to be in 5 min walking distance but can be a bit spooky as i have a quarry on one side and a wood on the other with a little torch

lol

ive finally managed to track his microchip number down to Identichips, but adding more to how out of it his previos owner was, it wasnt even registered!

not that im complaining in the sense that i dont have to pay to change ownership details as there isnt one recoreded!

thanks, he is a sweet neddy, very misunderstood when i got him, hed been basically left in a field for over a year with no food/rug and when owner eventually got someone to bring him on to sell on, he would buck/rear and be quite dangerous but who can blame the poor thing when he gets randomely dragged from the field tack chucked on straight away and expencted to know what hes doing!
i spent a few weeks playing/grooming/giving him a bit of TLC before i rode him out and he didnt put a foot wrong first time i rode him.

last girl couldnt even get put the farm without riding in company

sorry gone off on a bit of a tangent now hehe ...back to the point...

any idea how much a DNA test would cost?

If you contact Weatherbys with the microchip number you will actually find out if he was registered with them.

I don't suppose he has his orginal passport from weatherbys?

I had a quick look on racing post and certainly there isn't a calico listed racing unless he was a mare before!!!!!

There are some older ones like calico jack and calico joe but you said yours is 5 so cannot be those two.

I have a passport but i doubt its his original as it was made in 2003, and says my neddy was born in 2003 which would make him 3, well 4 if your being picky, but ive asked 2 different vets since i bought him, and when he was vetted all who say he was more likely to be a 2001 foal lol.Its strange as it was made by one of the vets who i am currenly registered with, so either previous owner just said thats when he was born (which wouldnt suprise me) or she hasnt got his age right. the inside of his passport looks like a photocopy...is this normal?

thanks, il ring weatherbys and see if they have him registered, although its says unregistered on his passport,

Oh, and while im posting, the microchip number on his passport is also worng, will i need to get a new passport with correct info on? or does it not really matter as im not planning on selling
so in conclusion:his passport is useless

thanks for your advise
