I am after the best places to advertise a small Horsebox which is need of a little bit of work to get it plated, I know the obverious eBay and preloved, but any were else?
Thanks in advance 😊

I too would be interested in where people's opinions on where to advertise! I have advertised my lorry on Horsequest - no one came to view just time wasters calling/emailing! Used eBay - a few enquires & lots of watchers but didn't sell. Used Facebook groups - again time wasters & is still for sale! There's nothing wrong with the lorry! It's nice & tidy for its age! I do think people are delusional - wanting an Okeley Supreme for no money!

So if anyone has any suggestions as OP has asked I'd be interested too!!

You are probably best off putting a 'For Sale' advert in your local tack shop or local equine Facebook page. Also commercial vehicle scrap yards and general scrap yards will pay good money for old horseboxes. (Some sell off the containers separately if they un-bolt).

I am looking to buy a lorry at the moment (7.5t) and am mainly looking on horsequest, horsemart, horsedeals, ebay and the facebook groups.

I have travelled up and down the country looking at lorries, and the majority are definitely not as described; why bother - it wastes my time as well as your own! I get all sorts of reactions when I asked the unladen weight as well as the height/width of the horse area. These are things I need to know, so if you aren't going to tell me, there is no point coming to look. I ask for lots of pictures to be emailed; this isn't such an issue if the box is local, but having travelled hundreds of miles to view, its better to be 100% sure of what you are going to see - one picture of the outside does not entice me. Nor does a single picture of the front!

This point is an interesting one;

There's nothing wrong with the lorry! It's nice & tidy for its age! I do think people are delusional - wanting an Okeley Supreme for no money!

I am genuinely shocked at the variety in price I have seen. We have a decent budget - some lorries are 4-5 years old and less than 20k, others are nearer 30 years old and 15k!! And there isn't a massive difference in the finish! I am fed up of people asking my budget - I am not going to say "oh 40k" to then be told their lorry is £39,999! Yes, it has happened!

If I go and see a lorry that I like and it ticks all the boxes on my list, I don't care if I spend £5k or £40k - I just want something that fulfills my wishlist. The big problem is I can look at a young lorry one day and think it is a good price, then see another the day after at half the price to the same spec. There really is no rhyme or reason! I don't want an Oakley for no money (I don't want an Oakley at all!!) but I do want to feel I am getting a deal and not ripped off.

Horse Gossip forum has a for sale section for horseboxes, most members are showing orientated and will have spent a long time in their lorries so the descriptions are usually good and seem honest

I guess for an 'oldie' at the cheaper end of the market I would focus on local advertising, as opposed to national. When I was selling a D regd Dodge a few years back, the local feed merchant (Welland Valley) did the trick for me. I also advertised in various saddlers and I used the hunt's mailing list.
