After a period of trying all sorts of unsuitable horses the new boy finally came home last night.
Thats the positive!!
The negative is that he's smaller than Omar so we going to need a new rug wardrobe

Any suggestions as to the best place to sell a lovely rug wardrobe of 7ft rugs that don't fit?!

Ebay? I've sold a few of my old spares here and was pleased with the price. Word of advice; Take a good picture, and make sure what's in the background is clean and tidy - it makes all the difference!

Sure. I'll write a list when i go down to the yard later and PM you. I don 't want to get into trouble for advertising as that was not the intention. Just a crying shame to have a rack full of newish rugs that are too ruddy big!

And try gumtree i sold loads on there few years back when i lost my old girl

. . . posted one all the way to Wales!!!

I advertised on my local gumtree and London one for max exposure!!!

And I agree the photo makes all the difference!!!

Hee hee! I thought I'd sneaked it past!
Hovis will give you his view of course tomorrow (!!) but the new boy is a 16.3HH warmblood called Pride. Bay with one white sock and a tiny star. 7 years old, jumps like a stag and if his turn of speed this morning after he got loose was anything to go by, pretty nippy too!
He flew through a 5 stage vetting and is now home. So far he has run through his stable chain, pulled hubby halfway down the drive after Hovis, got loose, run back to Hovis, wound all the mares up on the yard and generally caused chaos. It was a great morning

Sorry to hijack this, but does everyone think eBay is the best place to sell new rugs?

I have two turnout rugs that tbh I'm never ever going to use, and now need the money for a saddle. I've had a look on eBay, but would anyone be interested in "only tried on" rugs? I ask because I need to set a decent reserve while still attracting attention to them, and wondered if reserves or high starting prices put people off what are in essence second hand rugs (even though horse has never been turned out in them)?

Thanks

Chunkie- I bought 3 'only tried on' rugs from ebay for my boy when I got him. They all came in their original bags with their tags etc still attached. The lady I bought mine from said in ads they were for a horse she no longer had. She reduced the postage for am as I got all three. As far as I remember none off them had reserves - hope that helps.

I find 7ft rugs dont sell on ebay I've had turnouts and stable rugs on there and no bids. Always managed to sell all the 6'3 ones on there though.

Mine are both 6'3, and it's not that I'll have a problem selling them, it's the peanuts I'll end up with because of the rip-off fees that both eBay and Paypal charge. I recently sold a Blackberry on eBay for more than £90 and ended up with around £80 for it!

Rugs are so heavy to post too - the postage probably accounts for about a tenner, so unless you're selling really cheap, the buyer ends up a rug that they could have bought from their local tack shop and had the option to take back if it didn't fit their horse (I'm talking about new rugs now).

Has anyone used Preloved with any success, and what are their charges like compared to eBay?
