Hi there
My dog has had a confirmed pregnancy, we will obviously advertise on the KC website when born, but wanted to see what other places are good to advertise?
Thanks

Pets4Homes is probably the biggest dog selling site. I know it had a bad reputation, but it does have decent breeders who advertise on there.

Breed clubs often have an online page dedicated to pups for sale.

People breed dogs without knowing how or where to sell them?

Champdogs is a good place. I would always assume dogs on Pets4Homes, Preloved etc are backyard bred and I would never think to look there for a puppy. But I'm sure there are good breeders on there, they are just drowned out by the poorly-bred, non-health tested "Bella was desperate to be a mum" types.

I think it’s unfair assuming there are no homes lined up. Perhaps the pups were the wrong sex, or more of them than anticipated?
But the puppy market has certainly collapsed, which I, with my crystal ball, did predict would happen. 😃

True, but this OP said it's just a confirmed pregnancy, rather than pups on the ground.

It may be that they only have a couple of homes lined up, I don't know, but to be honest I would expect some research and knowledge into where and how to sell the puppies before creating the puppies. Not asking after the event. Maybe I just like to be organised, but it's such a big responsibility to find homes I would want to know everything before I tried to make the puppies.

I do agree with you but was hoping for the best.
I suspect OP is actually hoping 6 people on hho will want or know someone who does want a vizla!
I don’t breed, I couldn’t cope with the selling stress.

My young female's mother scanned for three and had ten, which is why I have three dogs now 🙃 (I own the father and was kinda expecting a stud fee!!)

I don't either... it's such a big responsibility! I couldn't cope with the selling, or the raising for that matter 😂

Vizslas do seem to be becoming more popular every year, so they may well be in luck. I have a soft spot for the wire haired version.

Has it? Is that fairly recently? The lockdown puppy boom did seem to last a long time.

This year puppy/kittens acquired have been dropping and are now are being attained at around pre COVID levels. Last year people were still getting puppies and kittens at almost double the rate of pre COVID. 2023 rates are being put down to cost of living crisis, people are (Imo rightly) thinking twice before taking on another animal.

I get a lot of insight in my role into the numbers side of the veterinary industry now. It can be fascinating.

I also wondered if as people paid so much for their pups they’d breed a litter from them all to try to get some money back? Hopefully not.

Although as CC says you can be caught out, Pen’s sister has just had a litter and had 9 dogs. They had a waiting list for 7 bitches.

There is some bright spark selling silver and charcoal 'KC registered' lab puppies on the HH selling page for £2000 !!!

I'm guessing they must be registered on the activity register rather than the actual breed register and they hope no one will notice the difference !!

They're on the breed register as (NBS) silver or charcoal; KC introduced the NBS (non breed standard) notation a couple of years ago, replacing the previous 'colour not recognised' option when registering puppies.
Does that mean I can cross breed a cheeky Weinemarer with a proper lab and KC register them?! My neighbour has a 'silver lab', I just smiled and nodded. A few litters over a couple of years and I could retire! ;)🤣

If you lied about the parentage and claimed they were the progeny of two eligible labs, sure - there’s no DNA testing for registration. There’s also no check on the colours, before the CNR and NBS things came in all those rainbow coloured bulldogs and French bulldogs were just being registered under a breed standard colour even if they were blue etc. They are at least now more accurately recorded.

Which makes it not a true 'registry' and how things like brother/sister or parent/progeny matings get covered up, but anyhoo, everyone has heard me ranting about that before.... :p

Admittedly when I look at puppies for sale, I am mostly looking at lurchers 🙈 but the prices have certainly dropped.
