Hi guys...

Can you tell me your fav products you use on your horse when showing...(I've got a tri-coloured with very dirty socks!)...

Things I'm really interested to hear about:

Whitening shampoo's
Leg whiteners (anything better than Gold Label show white paste?)
Mane and tail detanglers
Show shine
Plaiting sprays

And anything else you use and rate please...

(this is for county level showing).

Ta muchly

I use:
cowboy magic yellow out shine in (shampoo)
Usually use ice tight to sort out socks, the night before and wash off in the morning, not bandaged tho
alva dazzle main tail and feather conditioner (expensive but brilliant and a little goes a long way)
Alva sparkle coat polish (same as above)
just use water for plaiting

dirty beastie shampoo is brilliant!
dream coat spray is good too but quite slippery

hilton herbs blue shampoo

spray on white hair dye (i love this stuff! )

cowboy magic green spot remover

for legs.. allow to nearnly dry rub chalk powder in bandage and brush out at the show.

i use: gallop whitening shampoo
NAF citronella shine and show
NAF or carr day and martin mane and tail conditioner
seemed to work well for my grey as came 2n in bto

I have a bay horse with 2 hind white stockings.

I use:

Gallop Bay Shampoo
On her white stockings I use Supreme Blue Shampoo and they come up brilliant white.
I use Cowboy Magic on her tail
Plaiting gel on her mane

I have a piebald who's white bits of course are only on his legs and tail!!
Cowboy Magic on the tail and for legs use sheep face whitener. Bandage the legs and bob's yer uncle!! Don't even have to brush off. Muchos cheaper than "horsey" branded products.
Had many comments that I must spend hours scrubbing his legs as they dazzle every time!

For my hairy coloured my fav products are:

Alva products - I use the Alva Sparkle the day before and the Alva Gleam on the day.

Supreme Sparkle - on the mane, tail and sometimes his legs and also on his bum. For the evening a tiny bit of pig oil in hot water applied with a cloth is very effective. I also like their Highlighter gloss for his face as it is not obvious or sticky.

Surivor detangler by Eqyss - best you will use and I have probably tried the lot.

Shampoo - I use tresume deep cleansing with equine blue added - you can get this from equineblue.com. If you have filthy mane, tail legs and odd spots, then mix in equal amounts, arial excel gel, green fairy liquid, vanish liquid and tresume, then add in enough equine blue to turn dark blue - if it is too much blue, you can wash again with plain shampoo. Brings my trad up sparkling white.

Hooves - if you can find it, Ultra Hoof - I have to get mine from the US. I get the varnish which goes on the day before and on the day you then spray with the Enhancer. Finally the remover to get everything off afterwards. Expensive but is really is worth it as it lasts all day.

Legs, I use talc as anything else clogs down the hair. For non hairy legs, the Supreme's paste is not bad.

Plaits when I do them I use a strong fixing gel on a wet mane.

i like lynn russel everyday shampoo - its not too harsh - a couple of washes with that get her legs and flash nice and white - then i use chalk

this for tail:

for a shine spray i use carr day & martin dreamcoat - its lemony so keeps flys away too

for plaits - lynn russel quick plait (i think its called that) keep rouge hairs in place

and finally good old baby oil for black bits :)

ETA - hooves - lynn russel quick hoof shine or something - tis a hair spray type thing you spray on just before going into ring - its fab!
