Can anyone recommend a rechargeable light that would give enough light in a stable/shelter so I can see what I am doing (head torch is just not cutting it!)?

I know the best thing would be to get a leisure battery and hook lights up to that, but for the moment I am just looking for a quick and cheap solution.

I don't mind getting a few lights to put on a the different walls to give an equal light, but don't want to put blinded by something too powerful. I need to be able to check horse over, tack up, pick feet out etc with the light.

Any recommendations?

I've just ordered some 70 LED work lights like the one listed above. Mine were £15 each from EBay.
They are plenty bright enough for general jobs (feeds, haynets, mucking out etc)
Mine also have an in car charger so I take one for the drive to work to charge up :)

I've got two cheapy LED strip lights from Sainsbury's and just use rechargable batteries. I do find I have to charge them at least every few days though to keep up the level of light. To be honest, I wouldn't be without my head torch, when it's fully charged it lights up the whole stable. It might cost a bit but it's a different league to the cheap head torches which are less than useless imho! Once you've bought a couple of lights and a ton of batteries you'll be over half way towards the cost

I work in central London so during the winter it's dark both ends of the day when I get to the yard so I couldn't cope without it. I also ride out in the dark with it on my hat (off road!)

Cobs galore, I have them hung up in random spots. The one 'recharging' in my car I use as a torch do that I can see to switch on the others (1 in my feed room/ hay store) I have another 2 in my stables - my horses aren't in at the moment but when they are I will take the lights out at night.

Hubby bought me an expensive headtorch and it's both super bright and the batteries last for ages - I couldn't be without it.

I have solar spot lights for outside the stables they are very bright - solar panel is fixed at the top of the light so you could use the light part inside.

you can buy a pack of 6 solar garden lights from asda for £12. got them in my garden and they are fabby. come on when it gets dark and are stiill lit at 4 am though dimming! you could take 2 or 3 into stable/shelter and see what you are doing. then re plant outside in a sunny spot to recharge the next day! cheap cheerful effective! going to get another 2 packs ad put them down my fields to illuminate gate ways this winter! the place will resemble a landing strip soon!!

On the latter pages of the battery light thread in Stable Yard there is a nifty device that uses a rechargeable torch to operate three bulkhead lights

I actually like those battery operated lightbulbs with the pull cord, a couple I have bought arent bright enough but the rest are very good and I can do most jobs by the light of them

I got one of these to hang up in the stable. Have just installed it and turned it on and off a few times with the remote control (how swish is that?!)

It has 20 LEDs and it is nice and bright.
