Just looking for some opinions really.

As some of you might be aware I broke my ankle recently, I've already found a place to get started with physio and am now looking at options for supportive riding boots.

I already have a pair of Ariat Heritage Field boots for competition work and I already know they feel more supportive than my jodphur boots/half chaps I use for everyday riding, but I'd like to keep them for competitions and have something else for everyday riding.

Are tall boots really the absolute best for support/comfort during riding? If so which ones would you recommend, obviously I like the feel of the Ariat boots, but there is also a lovely pair of Mountain Horse Supreme High Riders on sale for £175 at the moment... are they supportive or not?
Are there any others for under £200 that are worth looking at as well?

On the other hand, are there any short boots that give the same level of support, or should I just spend the money on tall boots? Obviously my main concern is support and if I have to spend more money for it than I will.

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

One of my friends has recently had her ankle joint fused - she's living in Caldene Estate Country boots. She says they are easy to get in to and super comfy!

Do they make good riding boots? I have a pair of supportive yard boots that aren't really good for riding in, so I was really looking for something just for riding.

Thanks for the suggestion though :)

I still have a v weak ankle over 2 yrs on after breaking, more so as the cartilage has broken down on the ankle joint.
The best support for mine is when wearing Ariat jodh boots with close fit gaiters, I can wear these all day and still not groan when dismounting.
Next best is my Bromonts, but I really prefer the gaiters specially if jumping.
Currenty in winter for hacking about I'm in my Grassmeres (so I dont get cold feet) and I vetwrap my right ankle 1st.

I broke my ankle a few years ago and had to have metal pins and plates put in. I found my jodhpur boots and chaps better to be honest, probably because of the elastic round the ankle. Mine were Ariat.
The thing I found the BIGGEST help were my sprenger stirrups. A god send.
