Best rubber matting??

Right well i took my horse robbie to the vets today for an xray and it turns out hes got a cracked splint bone and will be on box rest for a while so looking into getting some mats and making it more comfortable for him. Been wanting them for ages and this has just given me a kick up the a** that i needed.

So what matts does everyone suggest??
 
Sorry to hear about the splints...

Can I suggest you DONT get EquiMat? My experience (three sets) is that they come up on the jigsaw joins and bedding / muck goes underneath and then the horse trips over them - so more dangerous than no matting at all. They aren't cheap either!
 
I have Kraiburg mats and would recommend them

Dont know about this but just wanted to say sorry about your boy and maybe give you some reassurance... my mare had a kick which resulted in a fractured splint a few years ago, she went to horspital and had it x-rayed but they did not operate (if I remember rightly they said it was too close to the top of the bone>?)- she was on box rest for a few weeks followed by a gradual return to work and she has never had a problem with it since

I've had my Equimats for 5 years now and not had a problem with them. Is your surface level Destiny? I don't get any dirt underneath whatsoever,
 
I have my large horses on equimat and the ponies on mats from the black mat co....both excellent ,the equimats never move and im very happy with both types
 
I have two of mine on equimats and they are great, they are EVA + a small amount of rubber. My friend has cheaper comfort mats which are just eva, they spread and have to be trimmed regularly or they bow.
 
Yeap floor was level. I bought a set with most of my wages a couple of years ago. They (Equimat) replaced them the first time (after 1 winter) and fitted them (after agreeing the floor was level) - but then 18 months later one of the jigsaw joints lifted again and the muck started to get in and it just got worse over the winter. The more muck gets in, the more the edges lifted and it becomes a bit dangerous and the mats don't ever go perfectly flat again so its a never ending problem. Also, it was with two different horses so I don't think I can blame them : )

I'm glad that other people get on with Equimat. But I'm afraid I'm twice bitten twice shy.
 
ive got the eva mats which i got off ebay, they're not for everyone but i like them - nice and squishy so less bedding needed, really cheap and lightweight so easy to pick up and move
