Best rug for a horse that sweats while travelling?

I was going to call this 'Best thing for a sweaty traveller to wear' but realised it might cause offence! :o

My girl sweats quite a bit while travelling, not to sure why as she is really quiet, barely moves with no fuss but always comes off steaming at the mo.
I have used a fleece as meant to wick away moisture but was wondering if there is anything else i should try or just give her the time to cool down?
 
What you travel a horse, I think, does depend on the time of year. In the middle of summer no I wouldn't rug, but if you're travelling in wintertime, would definately put some type of rug on, when she sweats you need something to stop her getting a chill.
 
Summer nothing winter definatly a thermatex but if not fully clipped use one of their thin summer wieght ones in a lorry as the traditional one can be very warm .i always travel with a range of wicking rugs in the lorry to cover temperature changes.
 
Whatever the time of year your horse is in ab enclosed area.with a big radiator, ie itself. I travel without then put a holey sweat rug on when I get there followed by a cotton cooler or fleece depending on weather. When he is clipped I will try a cotton waffle cooler.
 
Agree with the no rug suggestions above. Two of ours are like this and even in winter they don't wear a rug in the box (chaser clipped and blanket clipped) as otherwise they will be dripping when we get there - think our box must be very well insulated! Even found Thermatexes were far too hot for them.
 
If horse is sweating then it's too warm. Does she also wear boots? If so, this will also make her feel warmer.

I'd travel without a rug and then put on a wicking rug when you arrive. I've heard that travelling is like walking to them. Maybe an old fashioned sweat rug might suit her better?

No necessarily stress makes horses sweat because andrenilin triggers the sweating responce very strongly in horses.
 
Our horse is like this, he is always keen to get on the trailer and travels quiet as a lamb, but he will come off a bit hot- I just travel him without a rug, but make sure I have a fleece or something to put on as soon as he comes off to stop him catching a chill. I have travelled him rugless with a blanket clip on a freezing november night with the back top doors of the trailer open, and he came off very warm but not sweating- I have never had a problem with travelling without a rug, even when a friend of mine had to travel her cold pony in a med stable rug! :o
 
I'd also be inclined to travel it with no rug, and then use a sweat sheet or whatever seems appropriate if it's sweaty at the other end. How long is the journey?
 
Mine sweats far more if he's not wearing a rug, I think the plastic partition against his fur makes it worse. He wears a fleece cooler and sweats less.
 
Summer, nothing. But for winter a really good wicking rug, just to stop the horse catching a chill. Thermatex rugs are great, but Lansdown do a very very good Thermatex-oid which I believe is cheaper. Or even just a waffle rug? While I like fleeces I do think they can be too hot to travel in for some horses...
