I bought my boy last year (he's 5) and not knowing if he'd be a rug wrecker I kitted him out in Robinsons rugs which to be fair have been ok other than a stable rug which rubs him to bits. I'm looking for a rain sheet for him as he's currently in a Gallop rug which doesn't fit him properly and rubs his shoulders along with a couple of his other rugs.

I use Horseware for my Cob X which I love and also previously Weatherbeeta until I bought the Horseware liner system! She also has an Amigo rain sheet.

I want to start getting him some rugs that aren't going to rub his shoulders like mad, he's very sensitive and he's not a chunky TB!

What rugs would you recommend not to rub? I've heard good things about Premier Equine but they are incredibly expensive but happy to hear your views!

I used Horseware (mainly the 1200d Amigos, plus a Rhino and a Rambo) for my old TB. She had a Shires Stormbreaker which also fitted her well and didn't rub.

The TB is on the right in the Rambo wug.

I have 2 tbs and both suit different rugs.

1 - the chunkier one (big shoulders) suits Weatherbeetas and FAL
2) The finer one suits premier equine but a size down, Mark Todd and Amigos.

The Rhino Wug is OK on both of them

I just bought a PE flyrug half price in the returned goods section so worth keeping an eye on that.

my tb has always fitted weatherbeetas well and also premier equine. I also used an anti-rub vest underneath sometimes as well.

I used Rambo on my old TB which never rubbed. The Premier Equine rugs seemed to put pressure on her back (they are heavy) so I sold them as she really wasn't happy in them. It's an expensive search I'm afraid.

I have mostly weatherbeetas with the odd amigo (though found the newest did gape at the neck a lot) and premier equine. Derby house ones also fit really nicely

My old TB had dozens of rugs, but the majority were Weatherbeetas and Shires. Rhinegolds, on the other hand, were a big no-no.

My TB mare had Rhino and PE rugs which all fitted well with no rubs.

A derby house own brand £20 one was less well fitting on the shoulders IMO, but still didn't rub. Probably wouldn't buy another for her though.

Derby house rugs fit the finer types quite well. The broader of shoulder horses they don't quite so much.

PE rugs take the mane off of mine but neckless they are ok but they weigh a tonne when wet.

Riff Raff rugs actually fitted my 17.2hh well, didn't rub nor take his mane out.

Derby House fit my older tb well, the ones with the clips on the front are very adjustable so you can make sure the fit is just right.
Weirdly they are the only make that fit my chunky cob as well!

I have a warmblood/TB and every single rug rubs across his shoulders, I brought him a silk 'bib' which covers his shoulders and withers and stops the rubbing altogether. I have a weatherbeeta one which was only £10 so a cheaper option to stop you from buying endless rugs!
