best rugs

Hi horseware have 3 levels - amigo, rhino and then Rambo, the most expensive.
I think if you want the warmest horse possible, then put a heavyweight amigo on first, a heavyweight rhino and then a heavyweight Rambo on top of them all.p

No way will any heat escape then!

except that you forgot to add the 450g fill Premier Equine turnout rug, do you want that poor horse to freeze?!

Apologies! My horse is unclipped and fat so is ok with the 3 horsewares, but if he was clipped I would have added the 450g on top just to keep him toasty.

ah a gap in the market! Fear not! I have designed waterproof Uggs for horses!

Ooh those might work! Currently his feet are being pampered in mud baths daily and then washed off with natural free flowing river water ensuring a completely natural and luxurious lifestyle. He may like the uggs to relax in at night after eating his dinner!

why stop at the Uggs, get that boy a corn cob pipe that blows bubbles for cozy evenings in front of the haynet/haybar/pile of hay/other forage

A very sensible suggestion, thanks! :)

Ok the horse lives out year round so needs a good rug thanks for suggestions :) but three rugs not really feasible! Though I'm guessing you knew that anyway! :P

I have just got a Fal and love it.

with you Fal are the best es specially the original ones

Ask an innocent question and the sarcastic brigade home in on it.

OP if your horse has it's full coat you wont need a mega thick weighted one unless he is old. I would get about 200 grm one and get an under rug to put on if really freezes, that way you wont need to buy a heavyweight. If clipped or in fast work I would depend on your field if sheltered or your horse a good doer living out as to what rug weight you need, and if big chested you are better off with Shires tempest or a Fal which fit bigger horses and are deeper rugs

He could sit and babysit the alpaca while telling stories of old ;)

I wonder if I should get him an insulated tail bag as surely his tail might get cold too?
Or what about ear muffs?

Mine lives out all year, he is currently in a 100g swish as it's pretty mild atm. I've a high neck 50g from bucas, The 100g, 200g half neck rhino and a 300g half neck bucas - luckily all bought on sale over the years lol. The 300g bucas is a new addition, bought stealthily from watching their sale sites :p . I'd rather have different weights to suit weather and those 4 rugs will do many winters to come. Plus I highly doubt he will ever wear the 300g one this winter but hey, a sale is a sale :p

Then the best thing would be some loft insulation and a tarpaulin. You can cut four holes in it for the legs and won't need to worry about him getting caught up in the straps.

If you could actually design these that would be AMAZING! Or maybe Hunters? Keep the pesky mud off the hooves xx

Hunters for horses was done way back in 2011. ;) :D
