best saddle for a youngster

A saddle for a young highland pony would be very different to one for a TB, and rider preference would come into it as well! It's really important to have a well fitting. stable saddle for young, soft backs as they damage much more easily than a well muscled back. IF you can find adjustable that fits then great, but don't get too hung up on it to the extent that you sacrifice fit - they do not fit everything. As a fitter I adjust traditional beech laminate trees and you may find a local fitter who will do the same, giving you more use from one saddle as the horse changes shape.

I know each saddler has a different view , that is why it is soooo difficult for us who are not, I have not compromised , every thing has been looked at saddle checked every 3 months, X-ray for kissing pine and ulcers etc, but come down to the saddle and fitting:confused, its a minefield. I have a pre andualucian ,,

Good advice from sbloom, I found when fitting that even if a saddle was a bit scruffy as long as it fitted the horse and rider well it didn't matter as chances are it will outgrow it, so important to be as good fit as possible at this early stage.
Your saddler or saddle fitter will advise you accordingly.
