4 year old ID/TB which is wither high but with not a huge amount of wither, flat backed, backward girth groove and obviously still growing!! His front end is much bigger than his back end at the moment. He also has a big shoulder.

Saddler fitted a Bates Caprilli on him but I hate the CAIR because its so hard and also saddle moves about on him - took it off on Monday to see all the hair was ruffled at front of panel.

Need to find secondhand one to fit him or something like a Wintec although I think they are banana shaped trees. Is that right?

The wintecs are not as 'banana shaped' as the Thorowgood, your boy sounds exactly like Mr M, blooming nightmare to fit, specially if there short backed too.

Try a Frank Baines Balance (VSD) saddle, which will help around the shoulder, that fitted my boy beautifully, I used it for a while as it belonged to someone else and is the only saddle to date that fits him, hence why I'm still stuggling to find one, there is one on ebay at the moment but I'm not sure about the sizing.

My ISH is in a GFS Extra VSJ - H'e a similar shape to yours by the sound of it. It's a lovely saddle, and deep enough to be secure on a baby! I've had real problems as he broncs like a git if the saddle is not right but he is as happy as larry in this one

I too have a 4yo TB/ID, big shoulders, short, flat back and still growing. I've got the new GFS EVA on him, it's the one with the X-Change System, really pleased with it, and he seems to like it too.
