Best saddle pads for hot days?

I use my normal ones all year round :) Millie has sheepskin lined pads which are good for wicking sweat, Kira has normal esky or lemieux pads and I just chuck them in the wash if they are sweaty
 
If you're in the UK and just riding "normally" (e.g not particularly hard work like endurance/racing) then I stick to their normal saddlepads and air and/or wash after every use in our height of summer. I have 4 or 5, so enough to rotate a fresh one most days.
 
I often get back from riding in the winter and shes still soaked under her normal saddle pad. Just hoped their would be something lighter!
 
I just use normal ones but if you or the horse are bothered by sweat and you have deep pockets you could try cal rei or the husk. They are good but pricey. I think premier equine have brought out something similar that's a bit more reasonably priced but I have never seen one of those in use.

I do too so will probably stick to that then! I was hoping there would be something relatively thin and light as likes to jog so will be very sweaty!
 
The thing is as she has a full coat even a thin coat in this mild weather she will sweat with minimal work, once she starts to moult she probably won't be so bad but I would stick to the thin quilted type for now and just wash regularly.
 
I like the bamboo lined Lemieux pads. Very interested in the Husk ones but not brave enough to spend out on one at the moment!
 
i believe pure cotton is the best fabric for saddle cloths, it`s absorbent qualities that come from a natural material.

saddle cloths that are very good quality but not too padded help.
 
Last year I got the le mieux 3D air saddlepad...absolutely amazing, no sweat under the saddlepad whatsoever even after a day of competing in warm weather. I use it as my mare gets very sweaty in the summer as she tends to have a thick coat even in the summer and if we're going on a long ride/working hard then I'll use that over her normal saddlepads every time :)
 
Cotton is absorbent but it's not massively breathable in the form it's in in saddle pads, it's about the weave and the thickness and density. Sheepskin and wool fleece linings wick sweat, the former more than the latter, and there are quite a few new designs around for breathable pads, I don't know names but see ads and shares on Facebook quite often. A lot of endurance riders use sheepskin linings as the ultimate in cushioning and wicking, but be aware your saddle may need refitting to accommodate a thicker pad.
