Hi guys,

Need to change my horse from straw to shavings bed for weight management reasons due to him eating it. Wondering what the best shavings beds are that you recommend that is easy and economical? He is a clean horse boy who likes a big bed. No wood pellets for me as have my own experience with them which i didn't get on with. Thanks in advance! :)

I use Metsa Wood Stable Choice, I have an account with a supplier and most of the yard use them, I used to organise it but gave up when people used to take it for granted and I never even got a thank you.

We currently pay £7.88 per 22kg bale which includes VAT and delivery (spreadable volume used to be very good but we got a couple of dusty bales). I've had to shop around and spent months trying to find a decent supply.

Prior to 2016 my Dad used to go to the local timber yard with some strong polythene bags he'd bought of the internet and bagged them up when the hopper was switched off on the guys breakfast break. They were lovely big flakes, all white wood. The Stable Choice is the only stuff that even comes close.
