Best shavings

Hi all I’m just wondering what is the best shavings to use for a very wet pony.
I currently have him on comfy bed plus but I find the bales don’t go very far and I’m having to put a bale in every other day. Even when I set the bed up with 6-8 bales.
I’m wondering if anyone has used Bed Down excel? Would this be a good option?
I also thought about getting the straw max pellets and putting those on the base. Thoughts?
Open to suggestions of anything that may be better. I can store a pallet as I find that a lot cheaper.

Round here cheap shavings are almost the same price as Aubiose now, so I’ve started using that. It’s a lot more economical than shavings as so absorbent.

Years ago, I stabled my wet gelding at a posh yard which used Aubiose. It soaked up the pee very well.

I use Purebed, with a base of wood pellets in the pee patch. Skip out daily, remove the wet every seven to ten days.

I use hunters mega spread or lavender shavings mainly but sometimes in winter it's a case of whatever is there.

I find putting wood pellets where they wee just a few stubbs scoops worth straight on the floor under the shavings makes a huge difference, my shavings use is so much less now as it's mainly just the pellets that soak up the wet and get thrown out.

Snowflake as they were all they had but are pretty good no different from the others I've used, someone are the other brand they stock sometimes they are fine as well.

Snowflake for preference, and some of the bargain stores sell Snowflake cat litter pellets cheaper than the ones branded for horses, or I use the 30litre bags from The Range. Last time I went to The Range they had had an accident unloading and had seven torn bags, which they let me have for £2 a ba plus the spillage in a carrier bag!
