Can anyone recommend a nice sheepskin numnah/saddlecloth that looks smart and comes in pony size and that is dressage cut? Budget of around £60?!
Tried le mieux showing lamb skin but it’s too thin.
Premier equine seem to do a nice one but only in full size and I have a very short backed pony.
Saddle correctly fitted but pony very sweaty and in a close contact saddle so looking for something with a bit of cushioning.

Alternatively does anyone have any experience with le mieux pillow pads?

A saddler, which I am not, will tell you not to pad a fitted saddle as it will alter the fit. The correct way would be to use a cotton square with sheepskin borders to get the fluffy dressage look.

My saddler is forever moaning when he spends time fitting quality saddles and then sees great big thick pads underneath them.

Mine has been fitted with a pad underneath Alice as it is a close contact show saddle (only thing that fits!) but I use it for all sorts so need some cushioning that the saddle doesn’t provide :)

The griffin nuumed half sheepskin lined close contact numnah fits my equipe expression close contact jump saddle very well, and provides cushioning and sweat absorption. AA is right about folk adding pads randomly as an afterthought, but my saddle was fitted with this numnah in place. The cc cut wouldn't be right for yours, you'd need a straighter cut, but worth investigating :)

My saddle was fitted to allow for a sheepskin or wool numnah, it is just what I like to do.

OP, I was looking for sheepskin, but actually prefer Nuumed. They now have numnahs that are fully wool lined, but with no collars. Different cuts, different sizes, different colours, different wool grades. I prefer them as they do not go hard and they will wash and air dry by the next morning.

Nuumed will do pads custom to your specifications so you can mix the cut, tabs, wool linings etc if you don't see what you want on their website. They fit well too

NuuMed is, as I think you're acknowledging, wool rather than sheepskin, it loses the structural integrity when it's shorn. They are easier care, but they don't do the same job. If fitted for a sheepskin then putting a NuuMed underneath then it will change the fit. I'm a big sheepskin fan.
