Hey all, looking for some recommendations for some comfy, trainer style short boots to ride in - something that isn't so rigid!

We've been doing a lot more long rides and exploring the world of endurance and I'm struggling with my feet, my Shires Moretta long boots killed the balls of my feet on last week's 20km ride. Anyone have any suggestions for something more comfortable? I was thinking of trying the Artist Ascent paddock boots...?

I got Ariat Ascents a few weeks ago. I didn't love them at first because quite honestly they look like odd wetsuit shoes! But I love them now, ridiculously comfortable from the first wear.

There is no ankle support at all though, and I think I'd be squashed flat if I was stood on, but I'm riding at a school and other than sorting tack out and helping hose off/turn out in this weather I'm not on the ground much, so not an issue for me.

That's good to know! I am not too worried about the ankle support - really just looking for the comfort. Did you find the sizing was true to size? Saw a couple of reviews which suggested they were quite tight and came up a bit small

My usual size is 5, but i needed the 5.5 as i have wide feet, but I have Mountain horse snowy River paddock boots and needed the 5.5 in them too, and my Salomon walking boots are 5.5, size wise they're comparable to them I'd say.

In fact I tried one 4.5 by accident as someone had put the wrong boot in the box with the 5.5, and it went on, just a bit tight, so I certainly didn't find them coming up small!

Yes, I changed to Ariat Tellurides when I took up Trec, also were good for long distance. I must have gone through 4 pairs in 15 years or so, I too wear them for every thing, riding, in the field, dog walking etc etc.
