Best small/cheap vehicle for towing with?

Looking for a car to pull the trailer with, preferably 4x4. Anyone got any ideas? Single horse trailer, and 14hh pony!

If you are looking for something cheap I would look at a Ford Mondeo or Volvo with an engine 2l+

It might limit you to shows with hardstanding when the weather is bad though
