Dear All,

Could I have your recommendations for best:

  • sports bras (32GG/34G)
  • technical tops (of a flattering nature, size 16/L)

I tried searching on here, but 'bra' appears to be too rude to qualify for and HHO search

Pleaseandthankyou.

I generally wear a Shock Abosorber under a Impact Free by Royce, but have put on weight and they no longer fit, so looking for something new.

Thinking about this combo instead:

under:

But would be interested in your recommendations.

The wicking tops are for prelim dressage and happy hacking in the summer :D

Many thanks! :D:D

Tops, do you have an Intersport or similar
Tops by Mackinley, around six pounds, variety of colours, short sleeved. i have bought 3 for summer riding.

Try the Freya non-wired sports bra, go up to at least FF, I can't search for it here either but if desperate go up a back size, should give you a bit more room (not ideal I know, but needs must!)

for tops i go to sports shops, I've bought a few cheap ones from go outdoors, really good price and you can get some excellent cool ones intended for hiking etc

I only wear the shock absorber bras, they are amazing, they go up massive too, my mum accidentally bought me a 34 F for xmas one year! they are about £30 but its the best £30 you will never spend, get the maximum support one, which is designed for running and horse riding!

id wear mine as a normal bra, if i could get away with it! sooo comfy!

I use the panache sports bra - you can get it from bravissimo. I prefer it to shock absorbers and I can even run now which I couldn't do before! Don't know anything about tops sorry.

I posted a similar thing a few months ago..sadly I'm £150 worse off and none of the bras to show for it(each sent separately by different online companies including 2 ebay but brand new items) none really fitted quite right and so each in turn sent back.. Every single one has been lost in the post..despite every return i sent being Special Delivery (due to them all being around £30plus. FIVE now!anyway. If yo uare in need of a bra, there is a postie somewhere with rather a selection...and I am NOT a happy bunny. All badly timed after a recent scare, luckily all the tests prived clear, but clearly this is a time when you would need extra support to counteract pain etc...so untill my fortunes have been refunded by Royal Mail...and guess what...they have not yet received my SPECIAL DELIVERY SENT CLAIM FORM!!!!!!!!anyway...in the mean time I got 2 in Lidl..£4.99 each and not looked back...infact made far better than a couple I had tried on!If your postie happens to be adjusting himself..please grab him...and hook him to something by what could possibly be MY bra straps!!!!

for me it HAS to be shock absorbers - maybe that's because once I tried one, I've never wanted to try anything else. I scout on ebay, and got some really cheap "seconds" - white that had slight yellowing, even tho they were brand new - and they are fab.

This is going to make me sound REALLY chav now :o but I have been known to ride in just my Berlei and my Polite Tabard *GASP*, hahaha. Needs must ;)

The best sports bra ever is the panache - I am a 36H/J and I got it in a 38H in purple. It is sooooooooooo comfortable and supportive, it is wired, but they are kind of encapsulated in their own little world and don't dig in to my rib cage whilst 'weight carrying' at all. I have been thinking about getting it in white and black as well and just wearing it as a normal bra as its so comfy. An added bonus is that it has little clips on the back straps that yo can join together to make a racer back! Every booby person should have one! :D

Well I am quite amply endowed (38g) and I find that a sports bra made by elomi brilliant. They are underwired but look like they have been structurally enginereed.
Not a pretty pretty bra but I can do sitting trot without giving myself a black eye.
They are the only bra I buy now because even the non sports type are a good fit. Cost about £30 ish depending where you get them from ie Ebay Littlewoods.com

Thanks ladies :D some fab ideas and feedback. I shall look them all up. I'm surprised there aren't more wicking type tops avaliable with horsey branding, but will indeed try the outdoorsy and sporty sites. (Found some nice ones on Sweaty Betty, but too expensive).

Oh dear! A pervie postie :D Hope you get your money back soon.

Excellent idea! Thank you! They're all sooooo pricey.

Ha ha! And why the devil not.

Well I have been indoors all day - (on here) and cleaning.

I had just sat down with an ice lolly when hubby rang to tell me he was leaving Preston train station, "Just to let me know where he is."

BULL!

He phones me from Preston station so that I can set off in the car in time to meet him in Blackpool station and give him a lift home......

So I had to put a damn bra on and go outside

For best wicking tops, just dab your ageing tee shirt between your equally ageing protuberances (though only slight ones) and hope that you can pass them off as horse gobs.

God, Sahara, I am your friend, and only just a little bit older than you (if a decade can be considered trivial), but I only own two of these "must haves" and they cost £4 each when my poor old nearly 80 year old (but otherwise very attractive and sporty and amazing mother) accompanied me into Reading to purchase my current hold ups about 5 years ago.

They are still going strong and I recycle them when I remember.... God, I hope nobody really knows me on here........................!!!!!

Searches only work for words with more than 4 letters; nothing to do with censorship ;)

Technical tops - local outdoor store will be the best, I have a fair range of coolmax tops - regatta and own brand, that are fantastic and inexpensive (and easy to go matchy-matchy with if that's your thing)

Sports bras - wouldn't have a clue, I don't need them :o

The Freya underwired sports bra from bravissimo is fab. I hate soft cup bras as you can end up with sweaty mono boob! Fits me fine 34 ff!

Ive got big boobs and work with horse not always a good mix!!! Anyway I've always gone with the more expensive shock absorbers ect. But went into m&s the other day and they now have quite a good range of sports and normal bras for the bigger cups. Got a really good sports bra for half the cost of the normal ones and actually it's the best of all of them, even did a lead rein lesson and had no bouncing!!!! And it comes in a nice purple colour too!!! It's the first underworked sports bra I've tried and I wouldn't go back now, just got to go get some more as I only got one and it's going to get worn out been worn all day 7 days a week!!!!!

Quick point if you want cheap shock absorbers use secret sales or brand alley, join up and they do regular sales of them and you can pick them up for around £9. Otherwise they are a lot.

I like the freya sports bras myself, find they fit better than shock absorbers. You need to try lots on really, I'd suggest a trip to your nearest bravissimo so you can try lots on without paying postage.

For wicking tops look for cool max or merino fabrics.
