What are the best stable toys around?
Never used them before but thought I'd get one for Ewan( my wee Shetland) and see if he likes it.

Do you get ones for Shetlands or will he be OK with a normal one

My shetland absolutely adores her Snak-A-Ball. Its just a ball that rolls about the floor - you fill it with nuts (high-fibre nuts in my case) and they push it about for hours getting them out. They have to work hard for the nuts and takes ages so dont worry about them getting fat on them! Plus, I think its a lot better for shetlands than those Likits which are like pure sugar!

She has it filled up at lunchtime everyday and neighs when she sees it coming out. So cute. The rest of mine are too rough with it and hurl it into walls / off steps etc.!

Does anyone know if there is a snack-a-ball type thing that can be fixed to the wall- my shetland puts hers in her water bucket every night and ends up spreading poo all over the stable- dirty bugger!!

My lot have a variation of the snak a ball which is called the equine decahedron ... the boys and girls absolutely love them and it takes them ages to get all of their treats out.

Mine also has the decahedron and has all his nuts in it at night to make the feed last longer and keep him occupied, he always goes to it first and licks it around and then looks all over the floor to see if anything has come out, it is always empty by morning. There are a couple of horses at our yard who can't get the hang of them and just kick them to death and try to bite chunks out of the balls in frustration - lol

My pony (who is shetland size

) has a snack ball but she sometimes gets fed up with it and puts it in the corner and ignores it. Herblyx do a good stable lick which is quite hard and doesn't have molasses in it - when I fed my horse the horselyx one it ended up in her ears!

My shettie has the frolic doggy version of the ball and loves it!!

Downside is he will/does assault the puppies and throw a strop when 'sweeties' don't come out of their tennis/footballs!
