As title really. If ever I spend a while in the saddle (e.g. out hunting) I get terribly sore knees whilst riding and for a while afterwards. I currently just have bog standard bent leg safety irons, but if anyone has found that a pair of stirrups dramatically alleviate knee pain I think I may invest!

Have heard of Jins, Freejump, Sprenger etc, but have no idea which to go for.

I used to get terrible ankle pain when I ride in boots but it went when I switched to short boots and chaps. I don't suppose this will help you as it's prob not the same problem.

I have a fair bit of metalwork in my right knee and it gets sore/stiff really easily. Riding in rigid stirrups is painful after a while and jumping in them just hurts so I invested in some Sprengers and never looked back.

However, I've just got a pair of Freejumps and I actually prefer them to my Bow Balance irons (never thought I'd say that ;) ). I do recommend seeing if you can borrow a pair to try as they're a lot of money.

I have sprengers and they're good...

However they don't really help my knee/ankle pain completely. I thought they did to start with, but since I have been really looking after myself, stretching and strengthening my legs correctly, I get no pain at all!!

A good Physio will be what you need, but my sprengers do help.

Having wrecked my knee in a fall, the best I have found are composite ones, they are great shock absorbers, even cheap ones but the wider the foot piece the better.

I have Sprengers which are great and help a great deal, however they don't alleviate the pain completely.

Free jumps!
I bought the Sprenger Bow balance stirrups to help my poor knackered running knee's and ankles - I felt not benefit from them at all.

I borrowed my friends Free jumps out of curiosity, more so because of the wide foot plate and tungsten teeth - I always loose my stirrups! I was sold within a few minutes, I bought some and have not had achy bits since.

Depending on your budget it is also worth looking at the ones Shadow Horse sell. They have two different types which are like nothing you've ever seen before! Having heard some of the feedback I'm going to get some for my birthday this year. I have a reconstructed ACL which hurts like mad after an hour's jumping lesson.

Sprengers. I take it for granted and forgot when hacking out a friends mare a couple of weeks ago. I only rode for an hour and my knee has been really painful ever since
