Hey, my pony and I went on a funfilled trip to Hungary at the end of august, however unfortunately the transporters were terrible and my pony arrived terrified of anything going near his backlegs and at least 30 blisters on his dock from a tail bandage we didnt even supply him with (rant over)

Thankfully, its healing nicely, but when he came home, he promptly lost almost all his hair and after 3 weeks of healing it still looked like this :

And now it looks like this:

So as you can see, the damage is quite extreme, does anyone know any really good stuff to help the hair grow?
Thanks :D

I can't suggest anything :( sorry . But my pony had a bid chunk of his tail ripped out of his tail by another horse and i have just left it alone and its growing back rather nicely :) i did read something about massaging though - it does something like increase bloodflow to the area , thus increaseing hair growth - may be worth a try :) good luck

It's messy, but cornecresen (sp) is design to encourage hair growth, but same as above really, my boys hair grew back in quickly you wouldn't notice it now.
Have you asked your vet?

Ooohh I have fantastic stuff for this!! Eqyss Meka-Tek rebuilder! Was recommended it by a friend and it made their pony's mane grow almost one foot in just over 6 months! And she used it on her own hair and it did the same!
So am now using it on my mare and my own hair too and am already seeing results! Lol I sound like an advert
But you can use it on manes, tails, missing hair on the horse's body, and hooves. As well as your own :)

Cornucrescene is primarily a hoof dressing - rubbed onto the coronary band to encourage hoof growth. Also has your fingernails growing well too.

It would be best to wait until all the broken skin has healed completely then start using the cornucrescene on the dock.

You were very lucky he didn't lose his tail. I saw a pony once who had travelled on the ferry to Guernsey from UK wearing a too tight tail bandage - it killed his tail by cutting off the circulation and the tail had to be amputated.

Yes it is but it worked on horse at the yard who had hair damage after traveling, but as I said it's very messy, different things, different horses, the owner however had all day to clean the area and reapply x

get flamazine from the vet to heal it, aloe vera to soothe any itching , y ou can try cornucresine but might not work for a grey? ive been told derma gel spray is very good for this.

( yep, been here, own stupidity, left tail bandage on for an hour - result, he lost a ring of hair and painful sores underneath. took 3 weeks to heal. ill never use a tail bandage again. )

Megatek rebuilder, not only very good for hair growth but can be used on damaged skin. I have used it on skin scrapes from where the beasties have got a bit rough playing and is soon heals the wound and gets the hair back.

In your case, use it neat and once you have growth then you can mix it 50 - 50 with water. Start with daily use and then go onto two or three times a week.
