Hi. My mare is balck with a white blaze and a pink nose, I left her fly mask with nose cover on all day yesterday but she hates it. When I went to see her last night she was still blowing her nose constantly and trying to rub it off. What is the best way to stop her from getting sun burn without using the mask?

My elderly gelding has a very pink nose and is very prone to sunburn. I've found a good quality sun cream works well provided its applied every morning (in sunny weather). I look for the ones that are "waterproof" ie don't get washed off as soon as you go in the water and buy the highest factor I can find. Last year Nivea factor 50 did the job!

Tesco Kids kids 50+ sun block - good price, waterproof, white cream not blue ! and it works - I use it on my cremello who is totally pink all over !!

I just use spf 50 kids sunscreen, you can get waterproof stuff which really stays put and doesn't seem to bother her. I'm using a boots soltan one at the moment.

Boy in my siggy got REALLY bad sunburn even when he was just out over night from 6pm - 9am.. we found the best thing was Germolene!(sp?) Not even a sun cream but just seemed to protect his nose REALLY well?! Cant see how, but it worked and is cheap so maybe worth a try?

Hi!
Much the same as everyone else - factor 50+ for kids.
I use the Garnier one as it is white and goes on pretty thick so seems to last well all day and doesn't rub off too easily when grazing etc.

I just apply liberally first thing in the morning and it seems to do the trick!
