My head is sore looking at all the joint supplements so looking for help. My ID has coffin joint arthritis, he was diagnosed 3 years ago and is now 21 yrs old. I took his shoes off and after the injections didnt help, I retired him to the field.
He is now looking really good and has his moments where he runs about like a 2 yr old and Ive walked him on the road and is sound on the straight.
I have decided to try and ride him again, just light hacking once or twice a week but would like to give him a decent supplement.
My only concern is, that as he is about 750 kg, (he is 17.1hh), I would need a bank loan to give the loading dose of most!
He is on turmeric mix already.
Can anyone suggest a decent supplement that wont break the bank? Thanks

We’ve just started our boy on Horse First My Joints Plus, whether it’s any good or not remains to be seen! At 17hh and just shy of 700kg I feel your pain on loading doses.

In your situation I’d be tempted to try a low dose of Danilon if he’s just a bit creaky but otherwise in good form and loosens up with exercise etc.

I had no luck with oral supplements but after using Regenesis Vet successfully with a different horse of mine we tried in on an older horse that also had arthritis which seemed to help. It was wayyyyyyyy cheaper than IRAP and not nearly as invasive so overall i was really happy
