Farrier came this morning. I pointed out that where horse pulled a front shoe off 5 weeks ago and pulled a fair bit of shoe off, it appears to have grown out. He says that there is little foot to work on.

So - he has Kevin Bacon's hoof supplement in his feed and has done since beginning May. He also has Kevin Bacon hoof dressing on 4/5 times a week.

What else can I do to make them grow better and stronger? Does anyone else use K.Bacon supplement and does it work well? What do others use on TB feet and which works the best?

All info. v.v.v.v gratefully received.

I use this thing from Len Rys which is really good - its called horn and hoof stimulator. I have also used Megatek rebuilder.

Cornuscrecine seems to do a good job as well - bought it but havent tried it yet.

I have just started feeding black sunflower seeds - there have been loads of threads on that recently.

My TB's feet were amazing when he was given the Equilibria 500 feed balancer - it has all vits and mins and allows them to absorb as much nutrition from thier forage etc.

I always found that feed was the way forward for him rather than hoof dressing and creams, although the C. D & Martin Daily Hoof Moisturiser (white stuff) was good.

Cornucrescine every day and I mean EVERY day really made a huge difference to our TBs feet

massaging the cornet band supposedly helps increase growth, even if you just use vaseline.

The EP I spoke with recommened Equimins Hoof Mender as giving the best results in their experience and having the best nutritional content in their opinion.

After years of problems with our TB I swear by Formula 4 feet and recently started using Kevin Bacon hoof dressing. The formula 4 feet has really helped growth and quality of horn and the hoof dressing stopped them cracking in the summer.
